BeachBoysMadeinCaliforniaMAINLast year, the Beach Boys celebrated their 50th birthday. There was a new album and a tour with all the surviving members to mark the milestone. Now,Rolling Stone reports that a massive box set containing hours of unreleased music from the sunshine merchants is on its way. Made In California (pictured above) is a 6-CD collection housed in a yearbook-style package that, in addition to reams of unheard jams, will come with anecdotes from band members, photos, reproduced Beach Boys artwork and even a disquisition penned byBrian Wilson in 1959 titled ‘My Philosophy’. No sounds from the box, which is released August 27th via Capitol, have come forth yet but we’re promised super rarities and alternate mixes of many of the band’s most beloved tunes.
